Going from a YZ250 to a DRZ400?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2001 YZ250. I enjoy the 2-stroke engine and how fun it is on the trails. But I don't even ride that fast anyway.

I am looking to buy a new DRZ400 to ride on the road to get to trails and fire roads to explore. Sounds like the DRZ400 is the best bike for my intended purposes in my price range.

However, will this bike feel like a total slug since i"m used to riding a YZ250? Does anyone have any experience with both bikes?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

(btw, I'm 6'3 190 pounds if that makes any difference)

Total slug, yes. Very reliable though. Its gonna be some work to get used to how the drz rides but they work well after you do.

Try to find an old WR. The DRZ is a great bike but you will find it to be quite heavy. Heck, you will find the WR heavy.

In the end, they will both do what you are trying to accomplish.
