MR250 fork swap

Recommended Posts

Hey all, I just recently picked up a 1976 Honda MR250. The engine is tight and the bike's fun to ride, but it needs a little work. The front brake shoes are worn down to the metal, and the forks need rebuilding. I have a line on an 08 CRF250 front end for $150, so I was thinking about putting that on there for the better suspension/front disk brake and turning it into a bit of a resto-mod. I'd also put on some new, more advanced shocks on the back to even it out. Allballs has a steering head bearing conversion kit for it as well. Does anyone know what complications I'd run into, if any? Someone told me the the frame might cradle. Any help much appriciated.

Thanks

If I were going to go thru the hassle of swapping forks on this bike, I would take a serious look a set from a CR80/85.

they are shorter, smaller, and lighter. They will also respond well to sub tanks which would work well for this case (homemade or used... let your pocketbook be your guide if you choose this method)
