plastic or metal skidplate

Recommended Posts

The plastic skid plate is good I have one on my ktm 150 and it holds up pretty well. Also the plastic skid plate does not rattle and slips over big rocks instead of getting stuck.

Personally metal is way to go (or those fancy carbon fiber ones), especially if u do log hopping or Rocky areas. No need to Risk a bike that's over $8000 (or any bike for that matter) on something stupid like a skid plate. Not sure how the construction is on yours but it's worth the extra insurance for me and not having to worry about frame/engine.

I prefer plastic myself. I ride lots of rocky trails and I am known to go for any log I see on the ground lol.

Reason I like plastic is it slides over logs easier and most importantly they do not get permanently deformed after a good whack. I had a heavy duty emperor skid plate on my last bike and it did hold up, but the sides of it ended up bent.
