07 rm125 "slow project"

Recommended Posts

Had the chance to snag a blown 2007 rm125 today. All I can say is the bike has seen better days. Fork seals blown out, tires shot, broken levers, plastics whatever... It was used and abused. Picked it up for a decent price for being "blown up". Despite being one of the nastiest cylinder cast flaws I've ever seen it Turns out its actually in pretty good shape, and the bike came with a complete wiseco topend! Crank checks out to be in alright shape as well, side to side seems normal, no up and down play at all. This will be my "winter project" as I want to make it as mint as an 07 should be. Some pics of how she is now and how far I got in a little bit as it was getting late. Baking Soda blaster is the best way to clean the cases. Soda blaster is easy to make so look it up online or you can buy one.

Yes you can buy just the reeds.

So turns out the topend kit that came with the bike is a 56.00mm and what do you know. It doesn't fit. Can find my spring t set so I can measure it but have a good guess it's a 58mm or whatever. Also, not really to sure but seems like there is some kind of stamping on the cylinder. Yes the cylinder is ugly as hell but I can't make it out. Maybe it'll catch someone's on here. A stroker crank will have a spacer under the cylinder ( i think).

What probably happened was the PO siezed the bike, damaged the cylinder and had it bored out to the next size.
