KingTrailRider My Ride Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) Ive got a bit of a problem. My rear brake (drum) isn't working very well when I use it but will slowly start working better and better as i hold it like it needs to be warmed up. The only reason i can imagine it failing is because last week i went mudding and it was submerged for a while because i got stuck with the wheel under water. Not sure if they can be submerged but it never has been a problem... well it hasn't been submerged for a half hour either. could there be any other problems? not sure if any of you have had problems with brakes on your bikes. Thanks! Edited November 16, 2015 by KingTrailRider
Medic5150 Posted November 16, 2015 (edited) Water is never good, especially brakes and bearings. Sounds like the drum needs a cleaning and some sand paper across the pads and the braking surface of the drum. Also some silicone spray on the brake cam where it passes through the backing plate. Playing in mud means lots of clean up. Guessing the wheel bearings got wet, so that will become an issue. I always tear down hubs, brakes and linkage after wet rides.. Yours was submerged Edited November 16, 2015 by Medic5150
