Removing spray paint from plastics

Recommended Posts

I bought a cr250 and the plastics were spray painted black. How can I remove it without damaging the original color? Would pressure washing it work? Helppp

try pressure wash first.

also remove the plastic and bend it a little bit and see if you can get it to separate, then peel it off.

I have successfully used paint stripper, but beware, the chemicals are caustic, one would be advised to wear eye protection, gloves, and also wear full clothing protection and a resperator, just spray it on and it will melt off, then wash it off in soapy water, and wax with Honda brite polish.

This specific brake cleaner will take off paint without harming the plastic.  It will also remove the stock original Honda paint from the engine or number plates.

Give it a light sanding with very fine grit, clean it well and re-paint with Krylon Fusion plastic paint. Walmart has it. If you do a good job it will come out pretty nice. Save your money and buy a new kit when you can.
