Rvfc to 2 valve swap

Recommended Posts

I'm starting this thread to document what it is going to take to replace a junk rvfc motor with a two valve replacement. I'll be using a '84 xr200r as the starting point, and the me04 two valve motor. All of my spare motors are me04, if you have a '86+ two valve motor to work with it will make things a little easier.

Here is an empty case to get s feel for the fit

The motor mounts are different, but there are some points of commonality that will allow the motor to be placed. The upper rear mount is in the correct spot, however the spacers will need to be lengthened. The front mount is good as well. In the picture you can see that I have used '86+ mount brackets.

The lower front mount is wrong, but it looks like the frame brackets can be cut off and moved without much trouble.ImageUploadedByThumper Talk1448154983.517303.jpg

The lower rear mount is wrong as well. Spacing width wise is good, but some fabrication will be involved to get the bolt hole in the correct spot.
