Airbox Modifications on 2016 CRF250R

Recommended Posts

reading up some material regarding the CRF250R airbox. In an article regarding the '16 CRF250R they talk about Cutting the back off the airbox and drilling large holes in the side plates. In reviewing my '15 CRF250R (much similar to the '16) it has a a metal plate on the back of the airbox. Is this what i am to take off? Please find a picture of the article in question http://i.imgur.com/q0KQKLB.jpg

What are they talking about in drilling holes in the sideplates? I would really like to give the engine more airflow but i am worried about these mods as they dont show pictures, steps etc. I am also finding it difficult to find articles on the internet.

Will I have to retune my bike as well?

Any help will be appreciated
