1993 XR600R rebuild

Recommended Posts

After wanting one of these for many years, I finally got hold of one.

They are not very common here in Norway, at least not plated ones.

It was all blacked out when I got it, and on it's way to a slow death...

Here is what it looked like when i brought it home:

Took off some of the black stuff, and rode it around a bit this autumn to figure out what needed to be done to it.

Luckily the engine seems solid, so I will leave that until next winter.
The rest of the bike was in need of some TLC

Got it in my garage and ready for tear-down

(The homemade exhaust has to go....)

GOOD job I have same headlight took some amber lens repair tape on inside of clear lens off LED strips to make them turn signals

Thanks! Cool idea to use them as turn signals!

Got some work done today:

Installed the original muffler as a temporary solution. It will be replaced eventually..

I'm not a fan of black, but it really looks pretty good in pic. Nice find! I see it has an oil cooler! What tip is on the stock pipe? Homemade?

Yeah, thanks. It looked solid when I first saw it so I went ahead and bought it. It has the oil cooler, and the engine seems good. As the tip on the stock pipe.... I have no idea. It is a solid piece of aluminium: I thought it was original? Looks good, and if it is homemade its the only piece on this bike that looks good. The other homemade stuff looks terrible... :-)

My two cents...

Love the headlight. Amber the turn signals is a great idea. Love the blue matching the side panels.

New seat covers sweet! Nice upholstery job. Is the black part grippy? Like goosebumpy?

Tanks clean.

Diggin the black motor and white frame.

Your oil cooler is dope.

Cant wait to see her rolling.

Like when someone Googles 1993 xr600r this should be the first pic in images.

Real clean.

Thanks for the kind words guys! Really appreciate it!

And it is locked up in a garage with an alarm that has video... He he he he  :ride:

The seat cover is from CEET, and the black has more texture to it than the red, so it is a bit more grippy.

Next up now is a new set of wheels. Still trying to figure out if I should go with red hubs and black rims...?

Got the rebuilt shock and forks installed

Looks familiar :-)
It's some work, but putting it back togheter is pure fun.
Look forward to see it getting rebuilt, so post pics of the build!
What exhaust is that?

Looks awesome. I hope my 93 turns out as nice as yours. Mine is just a pile of parts at the moment.
