RMR MOTOSHOP My Ride Posted December 3, 2015 I took a hard fall yesterday and my lower ribs are killing me. I have just a Thor chest protector. Does the body armor give more protection? Think I'm gonna go get some X-rays today

islandlife Posted December 3, 2015 Ive worn thor impact body armour for years, works great! Takes a bit of getting used too, but worth it for the protection. Some of us have to show up at work on monday after all
BOAB Posted December 3, 2015 I've never worn body protection, but after this last wreck with a broken wrist and severely bruised ribs I'm going to. I'm going to opt for the Atlas Guardian that is due out early next year, it will fit seamlessly with my Atlas neck brace. Anything has to help and be better than bruised ribs. I dread sneezing right now.
M E T A L A C I D My Ride Posted December 3, 2015 I have worn chest protectors, I believe they are just for roost protection, mabe some fall protection, but i wouldnt count on it!

MJRacing92 Posted December 3, 2015 looks like it does Has anyone tried this for motocross? I've just order the Leatt 5.5 lite but this looks like it offers more back protection which I like.

SnowMule My Rides (5) Posted December 3, 2015 Yeah, Tekvest. Got stepped on riding bulls, busted a rib through my rodeo vest... that's something I never want to do again. So I'm a little crazy about chest protection on bikes/sleds.
DrFeelGood My Rides (4) Posted December 3, 2015 Yeah, Tekvest. Got stepped on riding bulls, busted a rib through my rodeo vest... that's something I never want to do again. So I'm a little crazy about chest protection on bikes/sleds. How do you find a helmet that fits? Does it include the halter? I'll bet you really chomp at the bit to go riding... I have a million of'em.
motoinmoab My Rides (2) Posted December 3, 2015 I did some research after busting ribs and spending 6 days in the hospital with a tube in my chest. Here's the post, it will give you more info on what types of armor are out there: https://thumpertalk.com/wiki/_/armor-chest-protectors-pressure-suits-and-impact-vests-r269 Shit happens fast on two wheels and most riding gear doesn't have rib protection.
Piney Woods Posted December 3, 2015 In the past year and a half I broke one rib in a street bike deal with no protection and three with body armor in the dirt. The dirt deal was far more violent, I really don't know how much diff armor makes but I will not ride without it.
naturaledge Posted December 3, 2015 Moto-vest or TekVest are very good options. 👍

Jon Heron Posted December 3, 2015 (edited) I just picked up one of these Thor impact rig SE units last week; I have only had a couple of low speed tumbles with it so far but it is very light weight and comfortable. The kidney belt and back protector are removable too. They are $129CAD + 10% off at Royal distributing last week and I think til the end of this week. Not sure if it would have prevented you rib injury or not but it sure wouldn't have hurt the situation. I have suffered broken ribs and even ribs dislocated off my spine before, not fun, that's pain you just cant explain lol Cheers, Jon Edited December 3, 2015 by Jon Heron
slideleft Posted December 3, 2015 looks like it does I have this and only use it under full leather. For MX I use a chest protector like Fox hard plastic with shoulder armor.
