2003/04 CRF150F VALVE ADJUSTMENT

Recommended Posts

I purchased 2 CRF150F bikes and have ridden for a few months now. I want to maintain them as best as possible. I have replaced spark plugs, tires, oil change (every 10 hours), clean air filter (every 10 hours). Question is do I do a valve adjustment or check them? Bikes seem to run good, no backfire, good power low end and top end. Engines do seem to have tick/ping/chain noise within engine normal? I want to try to check the valves myself after the dealer told me it was $127.00 per bike. I think I can do it myself. Any suggestions? should I just leave them as they are or check/adjust them? Do the valves on a CRF150F need adjusting like other bikes?

Google "CRF150F valve adjustment" showed these links:

One poster said the procedure for the 150F was the same as the 230F and gave this link:

Very nice pictures and description.

It helps immensely to have a Honda CRF150F Service Manual; see Helminc.com.

To answer your question: when in doubt, check them and adjust as needed.  It's not that hard to do yourself.

Buy service manual or take them and pay the 130. One guy took out the chain tensioner to change his oil, and then he started the engine, funniest thing on the forum.
