Drz250 too much for my wife (5'5) and too little for me?

Looking into an 04 drz250 as a DS for either me or my wife. Problem is it's too tall for the wife and I don't know if lowering it is the right route. And for me, coming from an XR4 I'm worried its underpowered......

I owned both--XR400 and DRZ-250. XR probably 10 more HP. than DRZ even with jetting mods. Biggest problem with DRZ as a dual sport was the close ratio transmission limited top speed. I went fro 13T to 14T sprocket and that helped. DRZ was really no slouch engine wise however.

Interesting, did you feel like you were missing a lot of low end torque with the DR Z versus the XR 4?

 Shaving some foam from the seat is effective and cheap, if you rode your XR well, you'd be better off with a Z400

The 250 is a great trail bike does well on challenging rocky trails

Will be fun and controllable off road if that's what you two will be doing and as for lowering you'll probly want to get it done but 10 hp is a big difference but sometimes slower means more control and more fun !

It did not seem to lose that much torque. It was geared fairly low.
