Mineral EXL oil: clutch drag

Recommended Posts

My '15 TE 300 manuals says to use the Bel Ray 10-40 EXL mineral oil (petroleum based) in the gear box. My question is from a performance standpoint. Has anyone noticed a difference between using a full synthetic like gear saver 80w vs. what the manual recommends?

My clutch really drags and was wondering if the oil I'm using could be contributing to this.

I've rebuild the slave and master and have pumped fresh fluid through my clutch line eliminating any air.

What oil are you using?

How did you deal with clutch drag?

Thanks for reply. Last ride I switched from the belray gear saver (80w syn) to the belray 10-40 mineral and there was a little bit of a difference. I also put in a new stock dds Spring. Both made improvements with the clutch drag but it's still pretty bad. Going to tray bleeding the clutch again.

I assume you have a similar bike with dds clutch. How's the drag with yours.
