2014 YZ250F loosing coolant

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

After every ride my coolant has dropped to just below the fins.

Is this the normal level they like to sit at or am I loosing it from somewhere ?

Does the resin impeller shaft cause leaks or do they just snap in half ?

Engine has never been opened and is at 60 hours.

If no coolant leaks are visible from the outside,

pressure test the cooling system / radiator cap:

Its normal. Keep riding it at just below the fin, and shouldn't loose anymore. Or if you do you are burning it off and leaking it.

Check underneath your water pump there is a small hole if you can see any liquid in there it might be the water pump seal which is easy to replace. That's the only thing I can think of

2 hours of riding at the mx track yesterday and it didn't loose a drop. Seems like it pushes it out the overflow when it gets even mildly hot trail riding.

I would suggest fabricating a recovery tank to catch that overflow. When the bike cools back down it will suck the overflow back into the rads.

Assuming the cap passes pressure testing.
