Michigan best tires for lower Mi sandy trails?

Recommended Posts

have been looking for new tires for my 300EXC that will work well on the sandy Mi trails

I'm sane trail rider who enjoys ripping from time to time...

what do you run and recommend

F&Rear ???

I have a used S12s R in 130 and maxxis desert max IT F

but they are rounded some and are really none too gnarly...

 the Starcross MS3 looks good...

IRC VE 33/35 look good,,,

the shinko 540 looks like a sand chucker but possibly not very stable, anyone try it???

kenda southwick and millville 2 may be ok

and M5b rear looks nice an beefy for rear....

and oh yeah,,, Tractionator enduro ST look great as well with the center bars...

thanks ahead for response!!!

I run TKII front and rear. They are DOT which is a requirement for where I ride. I've heard the Pirelli Scorpion Pro is an excellent front tire choice in DOT.

TKII???

Kenda Trakmaster 2s. Sorry, there's so many tire threads out there that I just assumed you knew what that meant.

Starcross MS3 have a stiff carcass

perhaps of interest to avoid pinch flats at low pressures

MH3 are pretty much just as good in the soft stuff but with the added versatility of harder terrain.

Hurry up before they run out,

Michelin has replaced them with the new Starcross 5 lineup

which are of different construction: less plies and a more pliable carcass.

I use to use Dunlop 756 , and there 773 rear which I like for sand. Now I`m run M12 , and the starcross MS3 that I think work better. They are wearing good too.

All of the guys I ride with and I, use S-12s front and rear and have done so for about a decade.  They do chunk pretty badly when it gets rocky however.  I guess I am stubborn too and just keep buying the same thing. 🙂

MX32 is a great all around tire for Michigan. I use them everywhere. Only other tire I use is an MX11 at Baja

I ride a 2006 kx 250 2t and I am currently running a Dunlop MX51 front and my last Dunlop 756 on the back . I run the mx51 at 12 lbs and have never had a flat with it plus it doesn't hook up good until 12 lbsand the 756 I run at 15-16 usually. Thinking about going to the bridgestone m403 and m404 next or the x30's
