Cam chain tensioner

Recommended Posts

Depends on what make/model/year it is from.

Most are a spring and a ratchet or a wound spring and a ratchet. Usually, you remove a bolt on the back and either can turn it cranking the spring in, use a special 'T' shaped tool to hold it and install. Then remove the "T" tool. Some when the bolt comes out, the spring tension is removed. You flip the ratchet pawl up and press the tensioner in. Install it and then put the spring and fixing screw back in.
