Even in Supermoto unless your in a Drz only class you won't be competitive against 450's

If it's off-road, then you'll have a long list of things to change - suspension is number one, followed by weight loss. Basically, it would be easier to start with a different bike...

By selling it and buying a bike that was made for racing. Seriously though, the amount of money and time invested is going to be more than if you sell it or buy another bike and race that.

Racing what? You'll be fine on it at a C class hare scramble or enduro, but even then the bike is at a disadvantage to what most people are riding. Anything more than that, and no amount of modifications are going to make it good for racing.

It would be rough, but I have seen race results of several rallies were a guy on a drz400 was getting better places than 450s from all types of manufacturers. But that is different racing from what your probably talking about were navigation is probably not important. And anyway that one rider probably would do even better on a 450.

I've run my DRZS in several enduros over the past decade.

Had the suspension worked over and the usual 3x3/jet/gearing mods.

I'm not competitive, but who cares? I'm almost 60, it keeps me in shape,

I have a blast (at slower speeds) and there are a group of us who join

at the back of the field and enjoy the ride.

If I were to buy a KTM or other pure racing machine, I would probably go faster but I get

a rush riding at my speeds.

If you was racing supermoto, 120 pounds built like a horse jockey, tons of power mods, 434 kit, and raced as dirty as people on Mario kart you have a chance!

That's basically describing DRZs equipped with MRD exhausts.

or any DRZ with an aftermarket pipe,  the MRD is not that much louder then others,  such as the FMF powercore 4, etc,   but yeah,  you're right.
