the only way to know is to check valve clearance, pull in the clutch lever, some of that knocking will go away, 250f clutches are loud with no load on them, but anyways check the clearance

Unless you just did the valves, ticking in the top end is the sign of a bad cam chain tensioner or a worn out cam chain.

thanks william from what i've been reading online it seems to be either valves cam chain. i never did the valves on the bike i got it 4 months ago

Unless you just did the valves, ticking in the top end is the sign of a bad cam chain tensioner or a worn out cam chain.

If it's cam chain related the ticking will follow the rpm range. Meaning the ticking gets faster as you apply throttle.

OP, any other information inn the bike? Recently done a top end? Valves? Also, ensure your decompression spring is still intact on the camshaft.
