Ideas for KYB shick bleed port

Recommended Posts

Anybody have any ideas and pics for me? I was thinking I want to do a bleed port in my KYB shock. I'm in the process of building a vac/pressure unit to bleed it.

I would take it to a pro as it's not easy to do it

To add the bleed port

I always thought it'd be a good idea to place a small port in the seal head and cycle the fluid in a circle between the rez.

Wouldn't that be a more effective way to remove air.

I don't think it would be hard I would just be worried about wall thickness to tap it. Could install a header between main body and cadj

don't want to use the comp adjuster adapter, maybe a chance of introducing air when you try to put it back in.  I have the old bleeder cap, if anythign i'll put an O-ring on it and just use that.

I get no air using this method.

1.Bleed with dcc adapter as normal.

2. Remove adapter and install adjuster.

3. Fill bladder 3-5 psi.

4. Loosen dcc adjuster untill all air and fluid stops coming out. Do not remove. Just loosen untill fluid starts coming out.

5. Tighten dcc adjuster.

Doing this also ensures the bladder is not partially collapsed when assembled.

Hold a rag around adjuster when letting air and fluid bleed. Makes for less of a mess.
