Hypothetical Fork Length Question

Recommended Posts

Out of curiosity, if you had two pairs of forks with one being longer than the other (total length), would you adjust the height in the triple clamps to achieve the same feel?

For example, say the long forks is 5mm longer than the short fork. 10mm up in the clamps for the long fork, 5mm up for the short one?

That depends if the travel is the same or not. For example, my WP CC forks that were shortened to 275mm travel were ~11mm (IIRC) longer overall than the 275mm travel OC forks they replaced. So yes, if I'm understanding your question correctly, the CC forks had to be slid up in the clamps 11mm to give the same rake/trail as the OC's.

Thanks, just wanted to confirm what I was thinking.

Longer forks increase rake and trail , less weight on the front wheel , more stability and slower handling.   Shorter forks would  do the opposite , all else being equal.
