08 ktm 450 xcf installation of the double wheel on the timing chain

Recommended Posts

Who has the secret to getting the double wheel onto the timing chain? I can"t pull it up from the bottom of the head and from the top the chain gets in the way.  I bought it as a basket case and it does appear that they didn't split the chain when they took it apart.  A little help would be appreciated.

You should not need to split the chain to take it off or put it on. Just make sure the tensioner is completely out and that the chain IS on the bottom end sprocket correctly and the motor is locked at TDC. If it is a new chain it will be a right fit because the chain has not been streched yet. You may have to loosen the rails on top. As far as timing goes just look at the back loves (the right side of the bike) and there is a flat spot milled out just take a ruler and line those those up so they both are level and linear to each other, put the chain on and you are in time.
