2013 FE 450 SX-F or 2015 450 SX-F

Recommended Posts

If I was looking at buying one bike or the other what is to be liked and disliked on each bike? It should be noted that the 2013 is the Factory Edition 450, but the 2015 is not.

What major upgrades were made between 2013 1/2 and 2015 and any steps back?

Personal preference, from riding experience on both bikes?

Thanks for the input!!

They are both very close to each other and both great bikes. Id say your main difference inthe two are suspension.

The 15 has different linkage ratio, and therfor slightly different shock, but on the 13.5 just buy a pc link and your good.

The 13.5 has tabs welded on lower part of frame wheras the 15 is a forged part. The 15 is better there, but we normals would never know the diff.

The forks are what are completly different. The 13.5 have twin chamber white powers, the 15 the 4cs. But moreso the 15 offset is different, clamp offset are same between the two, but basically the 15 is 2mm back due to difference in the fork lugs/ axle realation.

You would prefer a 20mm offset, which basically is what the 15 setup ends up being. So on the 13.5 switch clamps from 22 to 20.

Engines, etc pretty much the same.

Id say the 15 but i cant stand the 4cs fork. The 13.5 forks are awesome when setup by a good suspension guy.

If you got the 13.5, buy a pc link, 20mm clamps, and send the suspension off. If youbuy the 15, prepare to spend more on the suspension, and make sure you find the right place, theres lots of shoddy 4cs rebuilders it seems.

How much difference in price are the two?

There is only a few hundred dollars between the two with the '15 being more expensive.

If i was you, id call your suspension guy, and ask his opinion. Cost to correct each, etc.

If you dont have a suspension guy, try mx-tech. They can do some awesome stuff to ktms.

But, on the 13.5, a new link like pro circuit, and 20mm offset clamps really make that chassis right.
