Thinking about get a crf250r or a 450r

I want to be able to keep up with my friends but I am light 115lbs at 5'6" I think I can handle a 450 it would be trail riding and some track?

For your size and height, the answer is very easy- The 250, no question what so ever. 

Allow me to give you some perspective. I am a 6,3 fat SOB at around 230lbs. I ride my 250 faster than most in my group including the guys on the 450's. More horsepower will not make you fast. It will however, make you tiered that much faster. 

I'm pretty sure with your size and weight that if you and I were on a simple 100yrd drag race, me on 450, you on a 250- you would still smoke me. 

Trust me kid, this is no brainier.

What year is a good year

well like anything - its all about budget:

2006 and older - I would stay away from. They have seen a lot of years of wear.

2007-2008 - decent units and favorable pricing. the biggest complaint is starting issues. Not major, but a bit of a wold goose chase in sorting out. 

2009-Last year for the carbs and considered to be awesome bike for power.

2010- first year for EFI. That said, known to be problematic.

2011-2013 - Cant go wrong here, but the price point goes up.

2014 and up all good but now your pricing is up there, comparatively speaking of course.

How long do they last for 07-08 before having to rebuild? And thanks for the info!
