Fork bouncy , no compression or rebound , spring only

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Newb question. When ever I have a bad shock, I just usually send it out, but this time wanted to try and fix it myself.

1 fork is extremely bouncy---no rebound or compression and you can hear fluid sloshing around in there.

I tried searching around but couldn't get a concrete answer.

Will the fork seal kit fix my problem, or is there much more going on than a leaky fork seal?

Thanks

At a guess from a distance, I wonder how much fork oil you have in the legs. If the seals are bad enough, and it was ridden long enough in that condition, you may have very little oil left in legs, which would create the conditions you're describing. Replace the seals, flush everything with a decent solvent, and fill the legs to the appropriate level. Only you (or a previous owner) know if you rode it with bad seals for any amount of time...

Good Luck,

AC

Don't forget to have a look at the fork bushings as well,

unless your bike has less than 50 hours, might as well replace them too since you are servicing the seals.
