Yz250 05 4th gear slip

Recommended Posts

Hey all. My yz250 2 stroke is starting to slip in 4th gear. My guess is it needs to be replaced.

How much does it cost ruffly to do so. I'm going to sell the bike but am wondering if its worth fixing or just sell for a cheaper price. Around the 2k mark as is

It may be a shift fork, but its always a good idea to start with the simple and easy possibilities before doing the whole motor. Id start with your clutch and shifting mechanisms.

If you snag yourself a manual or read this one for the 2015 model, you can do it yourself or with someone. Its not terribly complicated. With a new top end you can be in and out for a few hundred bucks.

If you take it to a shop youre lookin more like $800+. It varies, but its usually pretty significantly more expensive.

'05-'16 models are very very similar throughout the years.
