Main differences between cr 250 engines (mechanical and electronic valve)

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody, i'm new here and i'm an italian motocross rider so my english might not be to good...

So, as i said in the topic title, i would like to know which are the main differences between the two cr 250 2 stroke engines (mechanical valve and electronic valve).

Which kind of engine output they have?

Thanks for your help 🙂

I agree, I think the power output can be very similar with each design.. The older mechanical HPP design has a cylinder fed reed valve, which requires a large window in the one side of the piston, and the factory ones are prone to cracking at the skirt. The electronic RC valve engines were produced with engine case fed reed valve so the piston is more durable.

Some motor work is generally needed with the RC engines, to maximize their ability to produce massive power, but once modified, I think they surpass the capability of the older HPP design.
