'81 XR250R cylinder sleeve too long, piston not sitting at TDC.

Hey everyone,


The topic title says it all, I got a call from my mechanic today, who's rebuilding my 1981 xr250r, saying that the cylinder sleeve is higher than the pistons Top Dead Center. I am going crazy here, I can't find any answers as to why this might happen. The cylinder, sleeve and piston was bought on ebay and its off a 1982 model which uses the exact same parts.
