Fork Bouncy no compression or rebound only spring

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Newb question. When ever I have a bad shock, I just usually send it out, but this time wanted to try and fix it myself.

1 fork is extremely bouncy---no rebound or compression and you can hear fluid sloshing around in there.

I tried searching around but couldn't get a concrete answer.

Will the fork seal kit fix my problem, or is there much more going on than a leaky fork seal?

Thanks

If you have the correct amount of oil in it, no, seals wont fix that.  Something is wrong internally and you gotta take it apart.

If you have a leaky seal you're probably low on fork oil. If you're doing seals , change the bushings too.

I would guess you've actually managed to leak out enough oil that the valving is sucking air.  So the first step would be to replace the seals and check/replace bushings.  Then re-fill with the correct amount of oil and see if damping returns.  If not, investigate deeper...
