Video: GYTR 2016 YZ450F....is it too fast?

Recommended Posts

When I first saw the new head on the Gen3 engine in 2010, I knew at that point that I had just seen 15 new HP.  The four valve configuration was part of it, of course, but the intake port is unlike anything ever used on any dirt bike ever before.  A virtual straight shot from the end of the air boot clear through to the valves, looking much more like something from an F1 engine, or at least, an R1, than a dirt bike.  Sure enough, in under 5 years, the factory had production bikes producing 60 HP, a number it took some of the top tuners in the country several years of hard work to reach with the 5 valve heads.  To get that with the kind of linear power these now produce with untouched stock porting tells me that figures in the low 70's aren't at all out of reach.

Incredible engine.

Occasionally, I daydream about a 900cc 90 degree v-twin based on two such top ends.

How much for the gytr head and high comp piston? Isnt that all they did to the motor? Ive got a bone stock (except for tires and chain/sprocket) 16 and the bike blows me away how smooth and strong it is. Outstanding package.

$1800 for the head.. not cheap but you are getting a completely ported head with valves and GYTR cams ($ 580 alone).. basically a bolt on mod.. another $200- for a hi-comp piston.  I have this set up on my bike now, but it was kind of cost effective since the OEM head cams and valves got destroyed and i needed a rebuild.. Have to run 100+ octane guess that's the only real downside.. so much power!! haha
