New water pump install quick question...

I just purchased a OEM water pump assy that came fully assembled (awesome!). Not sure if anything has improved over the years or if the impeller should still have the RTV mod done to it? I do have a bunch of the red high-temp RTV I used to seal my water pump on my F250. Can I use it or buy another type? I'm heading to Death Valley in less than 2 weeks. I need a 1 time flawless install that holds coolant!

I'm assuming you've purchased a new assembly and it worked as-is? Think I should avoid f-ing with it and bolt it up?

Actually I've rebuilt mine twice, it's a pain in the ass.  Parts alone are 1/2 the cost of new assy (not worth it). 

 

I will never do the RTV mod, got a new assy on the shelf waiting.  ?

Any tips in install of new pump? Should I lube the assy to get it in the case?

Red hi temp RTV is not the best for the RTV fix.  Use Ultra Gray.  Generally a new pump does not need the RTV fix, don't do it.

 

Yes lube any O rings for assembly.
