2004 Rm125 build thread!

Hey guys! I recently picked up an 04 rm125 and figured I would make a build thread on it, the bike has quite a few goodies on it but she needs some love, I really enjoy taking my bikes apart and rebuilding them, getting to know them and being able to trust them is really important to me. My last bike was an 03 Kx85, I tore that bike down right to the frame got it power coated put a bunch of new parts on and gave it a good cleaning, a lot of people thought it was a 2010! Any way this will be my fourth rebuild, the bike is mechanically sound engine wise but the rest of the bike will need some work. Here is the bike when i got it:ImageUploadedByThumper Talk1458678712.292340.jpgImageUploadedByThumper Talk1458678842.416583.jpgImageUploadedByThumper Talk1458678877.136897.jpg

Then when i finished tearing it down:

Has anybody ever seen something like this before? If so how would i go about repairing it, i'm thinking some kind of epoxy?ImageUploadedByThumper Talk1458679176.326241.jpg

Right now the frame has been sent out to be sandblasted, my plan is to get it painted yellow, i will keep you guys updated! Oh! And here is my old 85 I don't have a very good before pic but here is the best i could find:

Does anyone know if frame guards for a rm250 or a 2005 rm125 will fit my 04? Also the OEM parts have a subcategory for "K" models k1-k6, is this the year of the bike?

That tank nut problem is very common, however it's an easy fix with some decent epoxy.

I think 2004+ frame guards should fit. Pre 2004 have a different rear master cylinder with a remote reservoir so they may not fit.

Best of luck and keep this thread going

Thanks for the info!! I'll hopefully be ordering my parts tonight. I have also decided against the yellow frame and i think i will get it painted in black.

I got to polishing the pipe during the weekend and ordered all my parts, the track is already open so I'm pushing to get this bike done and go ride it, here's the pipe:ImageUploadedByThumper Talk1459385621.078046.jpg

I know its not the prettiest but those marks didn't seem to want to come out, maybe down the road i'll put a works pipe on it. I also cleaned the airbox, it had that nasty mud and grease mixture in all the crevices now there isn't a spec of dirt. Now the fork guards weren't in the best shape but i wasn't about to go buy new ones just because of some scratches, so after reading the thread on how to refurbish plastics I thought i would give it a try, i'm happy with how they came out ( i always forget to take before pictures):

When i was taking apart the bike i saw this:ImageUploadedByThumper Talk1459386058.774894.jpg

The breather just popped of and it won't stay on, the other one for the exhaust valve unfortunately has JB weld on it which bothers me, anyone know if this is supposed to pop off so easily? I would assume it should snap in. I'm looking into getting my suspension done right now and the frame is hopefully going to be done by the weekend, i'll keep you guys updated!

Nice build! I'm building 03 250 right now. Had the same problem with the breather except mine were missing. Seems it's a common problem.

Thanks! I have been following your build too, i saw your post and it reminded me so i figured i would ask here. I'm not too sure what i am going to do about it yet, but i'll let you guys know. The frame should be done getting powder coated by tonight and hopefully the parts come in by the weekend!!
