RMZ 250 supermoto build for everyday use

Recommended Posts

Looking to sell my 125 trail rider and build a RMZ 250 supermoto as a starter bike for road use. I live like 2 miles from my town and I'll basically be using it to go to friends houses and maybe country road riding with my buds. Any suggestions for gearing, rim and tire setup. I would like to be able to go 70 if that sounds realistic. Thanks!

Um you wont be able to do this legally in America. This bike was built by factory, for a track. Thats it. You need lights first of all.

Then re gearing it would take fun out if the motor.

I mean go for it if its what you have but look for something else.

Itd be fun. But the re gear would take the torquiness youd want in the street away. Itd still be torqueyier in street vs dirt but still. 70 is asking alot. If youll never see over 50 cool. But 70? And hold it?

If you do something post about it.

Youd need a 14 or 15 tooth cs sprocket and a 43 or 45 tooth rear.

All of America huh? You sure? No

I plated a 2013 Gas Gas two stroke Supermoto. I have plates on 4/5 dirt bikes I own. I just depends on what state you're in. Some are more picky that others.

I'd go for it. My RMZ is a blast in the dirt. Sprocket it right and keep after the oil changes I think you'll do ok

Ok not impossible. Nothings impossible. I wasnt saying its absolutely not able to be street legal. But in WI, look what you gotta do. I mean take on a project but Id rather buy something. And in Cali Ive never seen a street legal 2t without lights.

Itd be cool, but this is why I have a street bike, and a dirt bike. In fact I have 2 from factory street legal enduros. My rmz has a headlight, a tailight, rear brake light, and a radiator fan. I run a battery. No horn, no signals, still not California street legal capable.

Best of luck. Im not trying to sound negative just being real. Kids can dream.

Again, nowadays anyways, there is something, in the USA, called the FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) which are laws that apply to any motor vehicle on any American roadway. That you need head, tail and brake lights. Turn signals. A horn. And a speedometer. If anything could be street legal youd have go karts and pit bikes all over the streets.

This is why I said legally. Cause if you took a stock, factory Rmz and put it on the street, itd be illegal. Even in Tijuana where Ive ridden an MX bike in the city thinking I was in the clear. Uh uh white boy! Not here! I wasnt treated well during that!

Go ahead and just ride if youll never run into the law. But in Cali theyll take your bike right away.

Besides, i was hit and run, my body dragged 30 feet on a street legal enduro with a Cali legal DC legal lighting system. Never found the guy. I was in a coma 26 days, I have traumatic brain injury and a fake left leg. This was around 7pm in July. It was still light out. I was going 30 mph. Ive had 3 leg surgeries and 2 brain surgeries. I have trouble kickstarting cold bikes. Still riding. Now I got two cyclops bulbs still feel weak.

Google search; July 14 2014 Barrio Logan Motorcycle Accident. Thats me so you know Im not bullshittin. Yes I live in a major city with tons of mexicans but still. ID feel better if you had some lights. YOUD feel better
