Simple lighting coil for 86' XR100R

Recommended Posts

I sourced an XL125 lighting shroud (staying period correct look), added an LED H3 bulb, will add LED enduro taillight and blinker.

I am aware of the KA1OKQ thread  regarding "roll your own coil", seems to have been used with success many times.

I will need to add a 12v AC regulator such as the one for $23.95 from Procycle, correct?

Do I also need a battery eliminator such as this?

Trying to keep this simple and efficient. I was told to use Ricky Stator for rewind service, but willing to try it on my own.

The battery elimtator won't do anything if you don't convert to DC power. It's just a capacitor.

Will LED headlight and signals work on AC power? I've read varying opinions but I've never tried.

I used a Trailtech regulator/rectifier to convert to DC power on two of my dirtbikes for LED street lighting kits. One uses a capacitor and the other uses a battery.
