CB125 piston in a TL125

Recommended Posts

I installed a CB125 piston in a TL125 engine, cannot get it to start.. I don't think there would be a difference...?

depends on what year CB and TL you have???? Early CB and TL had one piece head, CB was flat-top and TL was dish type piston. 76 models had 2 piece head and CB had a rounded dome piston and larger valves with different valve notches for newer head.  Can not mix and match without checking. May have hit valve on first kick and now have no compression.

the TL I am working on is a 76. It has a one piece head.  Don't know the history of the bike. Could be a earlier head was installed at one point in time. I now have a flat crown NOS .025 over piston and rings and am going to install and try again.  The CB125 piston did indeed have a slight crown.

They made 2 piece heads on 76 model. Since you have a 1 piece head the flat-top will work very well. Raises compression to 9.5 ish so more torque will be result.
