What kind of compression gauge do you recommend?

I have an old Actron. The one with a 14" or longer hose.I think it has has read low since I got it. I have replaced the gauge a while back and it drops pressure quick after a test. So it is time to replace it. 

 

Is one with a QD any better?? Or worse??? I was thinking it gives another place to leak. Are the readings any lower with a longer hose??? I see the bay has a bunch of them for about $20. I was thinking another Actron. ??? It seems like they are pretty popular. It would be nice to have some kind of hard case so it is not bouncing around in the tool box.
