How do you get on a demo team or a freestyle show team

I have been looking into this subject a lot but not much on how to get in, so how do you get on a freestyle mx demo team that goes around performing shows I know there's a ton of them in Southern California but I don't know how ridership about getting on those teams so I was just wondering how you do it and how much skill is required when you first start, Thanks for any help
