What did you do with your CR today?

I was checking out your garage. That's a unique looking CR, (I thought it was a KX). It looks cool. What kind of front fender do you have, and did you have to mod it to get it to fit?

thanks, that was another CR i had which was stolen last year. i leave it as my profile pic as a tribute. it was an '01, i picked it up in really rough shape and brought it back to life over the course of a year. the fender was from a 2013/2014 kx250/450f. two of the holes needed to be drilled out a bit, but that was pretty easy.

alternatively if you wanted a green fender without having to modify it you can get the polisport free flow fender. it comes with an adapter.

i have a green outfit for my current '02 as well, which i only put on once for a short time before switching it back to red... theres a video of that too. i got the sense people here on TT didn't quite appreciate it lol.

Thank you sir, and I'm still pretty new here, I don't even know how my garage works I'll have to mess with that and add a couple bikes.

But the front fender is a ktm. I have family that leases property to forward motion, they do a hare scramble twice a year. My brother and I found it off the trail a bit... how somebody lost their front fender without hardly putting a scratch on it amazes me.

And yes I had to cut the number plate a little bit. I could have probably done a better job

Vs.

Rode the ‘86 250 and am still jetting it. Just finished the complete rebuild on the engine, now coming to the final touches, and a new tank and plastics soon ;).IMG_2245.jpg

Wait.. were you talking to me or md30? Lol

It confused me 😂

That was directed at md30. I know, it was bit confusing, I quoted him answering you.

But I do like your bike too. Especially what you did with the motor. The frame, and chassis looks mint as well.

I can relate, but I’m gonna take my CR with me to college lol. Gonna throw that sucker in a van and haul ass on the weekends, once I get the kinks sorted . :)IMG_2258.jpg

replaced this tiny seal on my rear brake master cylinder that was causing the brake to slip. you can see in the picture on the top where the rubber has disintegrated a bit, causing the leak. had to buy a whole rebuild kit for $17 just to get that tiny rubber!

Been slowly going over my new project bike with a fine tooth comb, unless life gets in the way I should have it back to almost original shape by next summer. This summer I plan to play with it a bit. It's been a blast owning this beast for the last few days, forgot how powerful these old bikes were, been over 30 years since I owned an open class bike. Today I installed a new tire on the rear but not sure if I'll keep it on. It was a tire I took off my Husaberg TE300 a couple years ago and it makes the bike sit another inch taller.

Great beast you have there!  I have a '86 CR250 that I ride and race, and it is an amazing bike for its time. Just make sure and pull the water pump cover off and see if the coolant has corroded the magnesium extensively or not, and I highly suggest sending your suspension to Race Tech if you plan on racing it competitively.  It is amazing how good this suspension is with the proper springs, gold valves and valving for your weight and skill level! Have fun and keep us posted on your progress!!

If you’re water pump at it is corroded, post a pic. It may be repairable. I fixed mine and haven’t had a problem.

So....before watching Tom Brady and the Patriots get destroyed in the Super Bowl (sorry Pats fans), I decided the repack the silencer on my CR250. I just recently replaced the wet side crank seal, as I have been chasing a overly rich jetting issue ever since I bought it. Discovered it was loosing tranny oil into the engine, and was running super rich and  lots of oil sponge out of the silencer. This kids is why you need to check your packing now and then....after disassembly, discovered 1/3 of the packing was blown out! Quick clean up, and fresh FMF packing...hoping it will now rip to its potential! Come on spring!!!!

Been working on this 89 for the last few months I’m about 90% done. Rebuilt engine with new right side case and water pump cover. Rebuilt suspension and painted frame. Have wc frame guards, fmf exhaust and period hrc graphics and seat cover coming. Can’t wait to rip it.

New seat cover came in, she looks so much better now. Got some new decals as well for after the frame off restore this next winter. I made / edited the last image. Think I'll get some decals made and possibly a new tattoo
Nick name for this bike is the Red Devil B1tch since she bucked me off this weekend when I made her angry.
