XR 400R year models

Hey there, I have a 1995 XR 400 and need some bits for it, but all I can find is 1996-2004 parts, so Im  just wondering is there any difference in the engines on an 96 XR4 and a 95 XR4. Hopefully someone can help.

How do you know it's a '95 xr400? The earliest xr400r of record in the U.S. was a 1996.

Find the VIN on the right side of the steering head.  Look at the 10th character of the VIN; it designates the model year.

U = 1996

V = 1997

W = 1998

X = 1999

Y = 2000,

then they went to numbers: 1 = 2001, 2 = 2002 etc.

It's probably a 96' with a late 95' build date if it has 95' on the frame sticker.
