Bphillips Posted February 23, 2017 My bike is running hot, it was staying at 240 while riding last weekend. Mostly tight single track trails. So, I want to add a fan to the radiator. Trail tech doesn't have a fan kit for the 2007 model but they do have a universal model. It's 109mm x 109mm x 48mm. The only place it looks like it even has a chance of fitting is on the left radiator at the bottom, but even that area may be too small. Is anyone running one of these fans on your 07-11 WR? If so, can you post a picture of the install? https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/965/56431/Trail-Tech-Universal-Fan-Kit

zibbit u2 Posted February 23, 2017 (edited) This one will probably work.. there's not much difference between any of the WR/YZ radiators throughout the years;https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/965/46590/Trail-Tech-Digital-Radiator-Fan-Kit?v=10512 Or get the universal kit as you posted and a kit similar to this;http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Modified-for-fan-Radiator-Guards-Yamaha-07-11-WR450F-07-09-YZ450F-/232109630698?hash=item360acfe4ea:g:kVcAAOSw8oFX0wYD&vxp=mtr Edited February 23, 2017 by zibbit u2
Bphillips Posted February 23, 2017 The issue is the gas tank. On the 2007 the gas tank dips down pretty low in the front, covering the area where the fan would go. The 2012 has more open area around the radiator for the fan. 2007 radiator/gas tank clearance
Bphillips Posted February 24, 2017 I was able to take some pictures of my bike when I got home. Notice the lack of room between the gas tank and radiator. There is a small chance it will fit on the bottom left side radiator, but it will be tight. I went ahead and ordered the fan. I'll report back what I find out once it comes. Bphillips Posted February 25, 2017 (edited) Fan came today. The only possible location is the left side at the bottom of the radiator. At first glance, it appears 1/4" too big to fit. But if I push the radiator forward a little I can get the fan in, but resting against the gas tank. I don't really like the idea of it resting against the gas tank long term, but I may be able to trim the fan shroud enough to get some clearance. No matter what, I'll need to trim my left bike shroud where it curves in. I'm considering mounting the fan with the bottom fan shroud just slightly below the radiator fins, but I think that may reduce the air flow by creating a gap between the fan and radiator. DeepPurplishBlue Posted February 26, 2017 What did you order? Is that the Trailtech? If so, congrats you just paid 4x for a SPAL fan with no mount.... The common solution for the WRs has been a SPAL fan for $30-40 and make your own mount
