Kill switch does not kill

Recommended Posts

I am in the process of converting my '16 FE450 to street legal. I decided to go the route of ordering parts for the 501s since they are so similar (whether that was a good decision is a topic for another time) and I am a bit stumped by the kill switch. Everything else is just fine since with the correct wiring harness everything is plug and play.

My question is around the kill switch.  The FE450 stock has the simple red button, which I believe shorts the ignition to ground and kills the engine.  I assumed that when I added the stock ignition/stop switch block from the 501S that it would kill the bike that way, especially since the 501S doesn't have the little red kill button.  But this is not the case.

Does anyone know how the 501S is killing the engine?  Or what I missing here?  Much appreciated

The (s) had a key, plus a kill switch, I hardly ever use the kill switch unless I dump it.
