Question: Used as a snow bike

Recommended Posts

Would you buy a bike that has been used as a snow bike?

How much more stress on the drivetrain does a track have compared to a tire and rim?

How is it going to affect the life of a motor?

Let's hear your opinions.

I have seen lots of conversions.   Ice and snow seem really hard on any bike.  There are always levels of abuse,  but both of those will tend to have the rig at full throttle more than anything I can think of.

My buddy had a snow kit on his '07 CRF250R,

I'm not sure which kit exactly but think it's an early AD Boivin.

He found the snow conversion too much for a 250F and sold it after one season.

The front ski mounting was designed in such a way that it stressed the brake caliper bracket mounting lugs on the fork tube, also elongating the holes.

Ever since there's a 'wiggle' in the caliper and his brake pads always wear unevenly.
