96 rm125 wont roll in gear

Ok so I have a nearly mint 96 rm125 got it for a complete steal never had a problem with It the bike runs fine starts right away any weather but it doesn't roll in gear I'd hope it's not the clutch basket and I'm ordering a new clutch cable this week and just wanted to know what it could be if it's the springs or what because when it's cold engine off in gear with clutch in doesn't roll at all any help is appreciated

If the clutch operates fine then it's probably normal drag. It tends to catch noobs off guard. What weight of tranny oil are you using? Heavier gear oil will cause more drag.

I've had the bike for years always done it but I use atf

I just thought it should roll in gear all my old.bikes did the way were 4 strokes but while turned off with clutch in it should roll correct?

Start it ,put in gear and ride.
