Transmission / Shifter Problems

Recommended Posts

Bike is tough to shift with the shifter. BUT, if I put tension on the shifter with my left hand while I bump the spindle/gold collar with the palm of my right hand, for whatever reason it will shift up or down into the next gear. And If I remove the shaft, guide plate and the"drum shifter", I can use a 12mm socket on the drum pin, and it shifts like butter. Any ideas?

I replaced all 3 shift forks and the 2 shafts. And I also just replaced the shift shaft/spindle today with a new oem one from dealer. I also just ordered a new shifter collar, ratchet pawl A & B, pawl plungers, pawl plunger springs, and a new guide plate.

So I cancelled my last order. I figured it out!! Some how during the build, ratchet pawl A and B got switched, which was preventing the drum shifter from sitting in the drum properly.
