NEED HELP fcr conversion on drz 400 sm

Recommended Posts

I have this fcr. All I know is it's an fcr slant body. I'm wanting to put it on my drz 400 sm. Can someone tell me what bike it is off and also everything I need to get to make it work/where to get this things at?

It could be off a 98-2000 Yamaha YZ400F(I think 2000 was the last year?) Or a early 2000 KTM. It doesn't really matter, the parts all basically the same. Yamaha part are cheaper probably. There are a few ways to install , you will need the early 2000s "E" (not E33) throttle cables and intake boot. You will also needle the clamp for the carburetor side. Also you will I need a vacuum nipple that screws into 1 of the 2 holes in the intake. These are Suzuki parts. I think you p/n's for the vacuum nipple and clamp can be found in the FAQ's. I'm not of sure of the size of the removable intake bell on your carburator but again the " E" airboot could be used if it's the right size ( or you buy the E bell adapter). Another option to use the stock "S" air boot is to buy a bell from Sudco or Jets R Us. I don't know the part number off hand. If you give them a call they can probably help you out. Without knowing all your other modifications or location, you can either buy a jet kit for the FCR equipped DR-Z400E from JD jetting or a handful of jets from Jets R Us.

The main jet will be in the 155 - 160 depending on other modifications and elevation.

Pilot ( slow jet) 42- 45

Needle OEM DRZ400E (DPX) 4-5th clip down or EMN around the 3rd clip

100 pilot air jet. 200 main air jet. 65 starter jet. These are likely already in the carburetor.

Float level 9MM.

Yeah sorry it's a 39mm. I know I'll also need to rejet it as I have the 3x3, k&n filter, and full mrd shorty exhaust. Thanks a lot for the replies. I think i have all the information I need!

If it's really gunked up and you need that elusive midbody gasket, let me know. Like ohio said, you can do the intake adapter and stock SM airboot, or use an E airboot, but you will have to punch a hole in it to connect a breather hose, I believe. I think your stock carb/airboot clamp will work if you go the adapter route.
