Suzuki shaft 230

Recommended Posts

Recently picked up an old Suzuki shaft the previous owner said it was stuck in reverse. It won't shift in or out of any gear it starts and runs but won't move and doesn't roll like it's already in gear but won't roll. Any ideas of what it could be would be appreciated

Sounds like the transmission is jammed and given it's age, probably not worth repairing unless you can do it all yourself.

get a shop manual

take it apart and take a picture of EVERYTHING when you take it apart. next inspect everything in the trans and see if anything pops out. replace whats necessary and reassemble with a new set of rings and replace all gaskets. if any oil seals are leaking that would be the time to do it. if it doesn't work out part it out on eBay but if its fixed than you know how a motor works and will feel pretty good about fixing it yourself. I've done this many times. my first time was whenmy xl100 broke the countershaft inside. bought another parts bike and fixed tin a couple days. if you have a parts bike take it apart first
