Back on blue after a orange break!!

Well I am finally back on a Yamaha after taking a break with 3 different KTM's!! I rode a buddies 16 450 FX a few months back and was hooked after 1/2 lap. Didn't want to give it back.. lol so today I picked up my 17 450 FX !! I have been off yamahas since my 09 which was the best bike I ever had. Anything I should know about the new ones? Already hot springs on order & trying to decide on exhaust since I need a sparky.

Go to a thread labeled "Fork Height" posted on February 10.  Good insights on set up for handling.

You could knock the baffle out and put a pro moto billet end cap on it. Any of the pipes or straight through slip ons likely work well. The full ti models being lighter.

The FX pipe is already a straight through pipe, yet quiet, but heavy. Very.

Somebody said there was one baffle in there? Just as easy to ditch it for a slip on.

What does it weigh ? 

And which aftermarket muffler is lighter and by how much ?

I weighed the stock 2015 yz450f exhaust vs a fmf 4.1 ti/carbon slip on and it was around 4lbs difference.

I think I heard something recently where a ti header and muffler and li battery puts the fx within about 15 pounds of the almighty featherweight KTM 450.

You'll only drop about 7lbs off the bike... Still 20lbs to go!

The dry weight of the 2017 450fx without kickstart is 249 lbs. the 450 xc w which is the fairest Ktm bike comparison is 244 lbs and the xcf at 241. So yeah.... if u can shed 5 lbs on the fx it's pretty reasonable.

If you look around, you will find that MCG is obcessed with weight and will derail any and every post he is in talking about all the wonderful things he does to save weight.

I was weighting for you to say that.

I put the PMB sparkie on the stock muffler and it was WAY TOO LOUD!  I was very disappointed.  Ended up putting on a FMF Q and it was lighter than the stocker w/PMB by .046 nano grams.

Definitely no baffle in mine.  Plus, the FX and the YZ share the same part number for the silencer.

Search for the threads in here, you can order a Dr. D spark arrestor kit for under $20 and put it in the stock exhaust.  Even comes with a fancy little sticker saying your exhaust is USFS legal.

Stock exhaust weight. I put on a pro circuit and it weighed 6.4. You really have to go ti to save any weight. Your easiest weight change is the battery, that is 3+ pounds.
