How to Change the Oil in a XR650 L

Recommended Posts

If you put in the 1.9L of oil which is just a little over 2 quarts and check it you'll be low.  Once you start your bike and let it idle for 5 min or so it will be full. Just my two cents.

The manual isn't completely accurate. There's no need to wait to check the oil , in fact it's better you don't wait. Little to no oil should come out the check bolt ever , under normal circumstances. The check bolt is only a diagnostic tool for oil pump scavenging issues. The oil level in the crankcase is irrelevant under normal circumstances.

You're missing the pages that show the two bolts you actually take out to drain the oil.  And how to get the filter out and how to properly replace that.

You are correct.  The title should be 'How to Check the Oil in an XR650 L'.
