1983 yz250 hard to start when hot

Recommended Posts

Top end was rebuilt not too long ago. My buddy cleaned my carb and got it running real good. Bike starts up in a few kicks but after bike is running a while and is hot, I start having trouble getting it started. Any tips on what I should do to solve this problem would be helpful.

I am going to guess that the seals and the carburetor float setting and service have the same birthdays.   Time and money spent on brass is kind of whizzing in the wind until those two items are addressed.

If the bike sat for any significant period time the crankshaft seals are almost certain to be petrified, and if it has been run for all of those years then they are probably worn out.  Either way they need to be replaced.
