Can someone tell me what the blue thing is and what it's for?

It maybe to stop mud getting caked on the bike weighing it down. Or its a secret engine

With the black foam by the shifter and netting on the radiators I would say a mud curtain. You never know what is behind curtain number 1 though!!

Was this at the last round where it was freezing? Looks like some sort of heat blanket to me.

Quite common when running snow bikes, I think this may have been around the Finland round. Note the studded tires, good indication it was for frozen ground.

No FI ... the gravity feed petcock was out in plain sight. Likely serves two related purposes ... keeps the carb warm and prevents the engine from getting splashed with freezing water and suffering shock.

Its to prevent the carb from freezing up. Same with the foam on the shifter to prevent ice from building up around the shifter.
