Reed fined

Recommended Posts

Fining Reed $5K is like asking him if he has a spare quarter for the soda machine. It's pocket change. If the AMA / FIM "really" wanted to make a statement, they had every right to black flag him during the race. They also have the right to make him sit out the next round. But they didn't and now it's all said and done.

Why?   Over half the field can't keep up with the old man.

Well see if that holds true through the end of the season,  he's barely on the cusp and the other guy who might make that statement false had two ankles replacedo right before the season.

But more importantly for his legacy.  He recently moved past Stewart in many fans eyes lately because of Stewart's b.so.  but he looks to be putting himself back behind him if he keeps any of this up.

My point is that, unlike Stewart, if the guy is still competitive (maybe he can't win one) and shows up every race ready to go. who are any of us to say he shouldn't.  What about Alessi?  Should he just pack it in too because he'll never win another race?

Cool I see your point but disagree. Nowhere to go but down for him in the eyes of his fans anyway. If he wants to bring back the whiney bitch legacy he's free to do so. My point is I think he'll regret that.

But fer sure he's a whiney bitch.

Official Press Release:

Decision of the Race Director, St Louis Supercross

by Motor Sports Newswire

PICKERINGTON, OH - April 3, 2017 - (Motor Sports Newswire) -

On April 1, 2017, during the 450SX main event, while being lapped by the 2nd place rider, 16th place rider #22 Chad Reed failed to follow the direction of the AMA officials indicated by the blue flag. In doing so, rider #22 did impede the faster rider’s progress. This is a violation of rule 4.17.a

4.17 Flags and Lights
It is the rider’s responsibility to be aware of their surroundings at all times while on track. Safety is a main priority and the riders must obey all official signals and directions given to them. Any rider failing to do so may be penalized.

a. Solid Blue Flag:
1. Indicates you are about to be overtaken by faster riders.
2. When conditions allow, move out of the fast line.
3. Hold your line (do not ride erratically) and do not impede the faster riders progress.
4. Riders disregarding the blue flag may be black-flagged at the discretion of Race Director.

The decision of the Race Director is to impose a fine of $5,000.00 and the loss of five Championship points earned in the race. All fines collected are donated to the Alpinestar Mobile Medical Unit.

No appeal has been presented; the decision of the Race Director is final.

I think the officials were just making the KTM team happy by throwing down a little fine.
